Santorini Sun illustrates the blue and white cliff-side buildings of the Greek isle. many think the structures’ coloring pays homage to the Greek flag, but the buildings are that color for more practical reasons. the isle has little to no wood available; therefore, most of the buildings on the Geek islands were originally constructed out of dark, volcanic stone that absorbs heat, making being inside on a hot day unbearable. painting the buildings white to reflect the harsh sunlight was a necessary and practical way to stay cool. the roofs are commonly blue, simply because the color is cheap and readily available in the region.
